Training Tips

Garage Gym Building!
.
My current (and new) in person clients will get 24/7 gym access by appointment only with current plan once complete! Woot! Yes, it will have a heater in it for chilly times! This is such a HOOGE bonus as gyms probably wont be open for a long time and maybe you just want to workout more away from training sessions from me.
.
.
Starting out building the lifting platform and waiting for rubber flooring and equipment to arrive which will get here one by one. Doing this all on my own. I just got to sand the platform, add a water resistant finish and a metal frame then it will be complete!
.
With the world being in an unpredictable place I jumped the gun since the county I live in California hasn’t even completely lifted restrictions for gyms to reopen yet, except outdoor fitness. Seeing other counties, states and countries going back on lockdown made a clear decision for me to build it out. Plus I always wanted one anyway! I’m going all out because I don’t know how to be mediocre at anything I do in my life.
.
By the way, the average lifter probably won’t necessarily need a lifting platform. But these are the reasons you might want to consider building one:
.
You don’t have concrete flooring. After some time your wood subfloor might get destroyed from the abuse of repetitive dropping of the weights.
.
Helps deaden the sound. Nothing will help prevent a dropped bar from making a lot of noise but a well built platform can help reduce it by A LOT.
.
You plan on dropping weights like in the olympic lifts (snatch, clean and jerk)
.
You use metal plates and a heavy deadlifter.
.
Most platforms are built with 8x8’ platform measurement, but due to space I reduced mine to 6x8’. For the average lifter I recommend to at least have some sort of rubber flooring sectioned off as your dedicated lifting space.
